Bobby Capps
Keyboards/Vocal for .38 Special/Van Zant
Bobby Capps, born 12-09 yr unknown, joined the band in 1991 and has proven himself to be nothing but a shining star. He plays the keyboard and sings back up vocals. He does a solo song called, “Second Chance”. On stage he performs it in a medley, but I can not explain the feeling I get when he sings this song. Bobby does it with such sincerity that I could forgive him for what ever it is he has done. I hope to someday hear him sing the song in it’s entirety. Bobby not only stands upon a platform, but he will come down to the front of the stage and get the audience going in putting their hand together during a song. At that time the entire audience cheers cuz they are happy to see him up close to snap a picture or two. He has been with .38 Special for over a decade. Before joining in 1991 Bobby played with various forms of the Johnny Van Zant band and also other band of his own. Bobby has a band of his own while off the road called, “Down Time”, which also includes Road Crew member Noah and Mojo. Which by the way all play also for the Van Zant Band. Bobby is also involved with Ean Evans the bassist for Lynyrd Skynyrd. Evans provides all the guitarist and Bobby provide the lead vocals. “Last Time” is hard rock/heavy metal containing 11 tracks of original songs bye Bobby and Ean. I guess I will have to go out and find these cd’s from both projects. I am personally impressed with Bobby and his ability to play and sing. As all the others, Bobby is a great musician and fits right in with the rest of the .38 Special band. Bobby has two website, take the time to visit them both. With all this going on in his life he stills finds time to play in the band Van Zant the county version. He does so with ease and confidence. So as you can see Bobby Capps is a very busy young man.
