Larry Junstrom
(L.J.)
Bass Player for .38 Special
Larry Junstrom, better known to his fans as L.J. was born on June 22, 1949. He is a Bassist. He first started out in the Lynyrd Skynyrd band in 1964 when the band was founded by Ronnie Van Zant. L.J. was one of the original band members. He was later replace in 1972 by Leon Wilkeson. Donnie Van Zant, Ronnie’s younger brother formed the band .38 Special in 1975 with L.J. as the bassist. Larry continues to play with .38 Special and extremely respected and love his job. He completely satisfied with not singing at all. He loves to stand on stage with the group and play for all the fans. I have seen him in concert and his performance is one you have to see to appreciate. He doesn’t stand center stage or even up front at all. Yet he seems to be the strength in the band that get the least attention. I for one applaud him and his musical talent. I have looked everywhere on the internet to find any information I could to make L.J.’s biography to the finest and give him all that he deserves. But no where was I able to find anything other than the facts that I have told you. He loves his fans and enjoys being on stage performing. He always looks so calm and cool standing up on the platform. He sways to the music and holds a smile for the audience that you will always remember. He is always happy and eager to meet fans and sign autographs. I have met and got his autograph. We chatted a few minutes and he seems to be a gentle kind soul. Keeping eye contact when talking with me and showing his appreciation for what I had to say. Larry is, in my opinion one in a million and could never be replaced. Hats off to you Larry. I hope to meet with you again someday and maybe get the chance to talk with you even more. Anyone interested, Larry has his own website and here is the link. God Bless Larry and just keep doing what your doing. L.J. is one of the original members and has been through the up and down times with the band for 30 yrs.
