Gary Moffatt Drummer for .38 Special Gary Moffatt, born 11-19 yr unknown, .is the newest member to the band .38 Special.Though I have not been able to find out his exact date of joining I have learned this about the man. Gary Moffatt a drummer that is always at his best. Whether playing on stage with the band or performing his drum solo. Which is approximately 6 to 7 minutes long while the other band members take a break. He is every bit a professional at his job. He has a great time and you can see in his face that playing the drums is not a job, it is his life and there is nothing going to stop him. I have to go by what I have personally seen as you can not find biographies on the internet to what led him up to this point in his life of joining .38 Special and I am sure there is a story, I just wish I could find it. While Gary is off the road he is involved with a project called, “Rule of 7. Go to the site to hear sound clip I am sure you will like. Gary also has a Instructional Video for Drum School. It covers drummers of all levels. He uses all the sticking patterns and hand & foot combinations. Gary also displays his versatility around the drum kit by playing different styles of music. This video is a must have. I personally an impressed with his talent, ability and style at which he displays to the audience. Gary also has a website. Please go visit it. www.drumschool.net/

Gary joined in late 1996. Scott Hoffman was still there when I saw them in the summer of '96. The guys told me that Donny Baldwin(from Elvin Bishop & Jefferson Starship) filled in a few dates in '96 after Scott fell and injured himself getting on the tour bus. Scott came back when he was healed, but then Gary came in by that year's end.

I went to school with Gary, 3-12 grades. This was in Central Florida. He was an amazing talent from an early age. Try to teach me Wipe Out in third grade. I think he is classicaly trained. I don't know what he did after high school though.
