.38 Special
Fresno, CA

As always I would like to thank Andy for the tickets and meet and greet. You always come thru for us and I was able once again to thank Mark in person. They didn’t allow pictures at the meet and greet. But Donnie allowed me and my guests with me to hang out after the show and take pics and more autographs. The show was great however most of my pics didn’t turn out great due to the lighting. I guess seeing 38 Special is always about the same. GREAT, FANTASTIC AND ALWAYS FUN. At one point Don starts talking about the 80's and who remembers those days. He said the Donnie was in to the herbal stuff if you know what I mean. And than without missing a beat says. “I told him it was going to stunt his growth”. The audience roared with laughter as did Donnie. And as always they include the audience in the show. This is what makes a good show.
My guest was Niki, Mike and his wife Julie from Gator Alley Band. This was Julie and Niki’s first time seeing 38 Special and it is always cool to watch someone seeing them for the first time. Randy was not there, he was on his yearly street vibrations bike run to Reno, NV. So after the show we hung out and soon was greeted by Don Barnes. He is always so pleasant and caring. I showed him the pic from last yr that Randy cut his and my heads out of the pics with him and Donnie. Don laughed, autographed it and said lets fix that right now for you. As you see it turned out great. Don stayed and talked with us for a long time. The more I meet with this man the more I feel like it is just like talking to part of my family.
Next out was Donnie. Who always makes me feel so welcome and like a old friend from school or something. He also laughed at the picture of his head and mine. And we took another. I had a picture of him on stage from yrs ago and he saw it and said let me tell you the story behind that belt. Well, first here is the picture.
Now here is the story. That belt belonged to Ronnie. It was stolen from backstage at a concert. He put requests out on the radio and paper, no questioned asked if it was just returned. Never got an answer. Than TWO years later at a show. They received a box all gift wrapped, no note. They opened it after the show and there was the belt. It brought tears to my eye’s and what a story it was. And I felt so proud that he choose to tell us about it. Thank you Donnie. You always are so polite and considerate to me and my guests. They really loved you and Don. Mike said you are the nicest guy he has ever met. Real down to earth. Thanks again for a great time. See you soon I hope as Van Zant.
