Hey Gang, Im looking for information on a band I saw Johnny with in 1980 for a book I am co authoring. In 1980 I saw 3 bands at Barton Colesium in Little Rock, AR. The headliner was .38 Special who were touring their Wild Eyed Southern Boys LP. Molly Hatchet played just before them. Hatchet was on thier Beatin' the Odds tour...their first tour without Danny Joe Brown fronting. Jimmy Farrar was singing lead for them on this tour and their sound was starting to evolve from pure Southern Rock to a bit more straight ahead Rock & Roll approach. The opening act was a Band billed as "Jacksonville". Johnny Van Zant was fronting this band and they were a straight ahead Southern Rock band. I have not been able to find ANY information on this band...or even any evidence of their existence for that matter. If anyone has any info or links they could share that would shed some light on this band it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Toe

If nobody here can help you there are some guys that hang out on Ed King's site that were around those guys during the post and/or pre crash Skynyrd days. There are some real historians over there. It's worth a shot. forum.edking.net/index.php
