Thank you all. It was a beautiful gathering in Carthage. Monday, we took George Home to Spartanburg. It has been a very long and emotional day. Jody forgive me but I told your story of "The Ride is worth the trip"... That statement sums George up. Even more George loved nothing more than to share the Ride with his friends. Because of his kindness and love I have experienced things most of only dream of. And even though It hurts, and I miss him so very much, if you were to ask me if I had any regrets I would smile and say "Nope, the ride was worth the trip"... When I said my final goodbye today, I placed a guitar pick in his hand and said enjoy the Ride Brother. Those words are what helps me to remember to breath each day, "The Ride is worth the trip"....
The service was beautiful and very emotional. There was music, prayer, and a lot of tears. The Service was ended with everyone singing fire on the mountain. I personally want to thank all of you for your kind words, prayers, and concern. Justin had this to say:
July 3, 2007 I cannot express my thanks for the many acts of love shown toward us during this time. My Dad was not only my father, he was my best friend, my Dad and my hero. I thank each and every one of you from the bottom of my heart. I am so very proud to know that my Dad touched so many lives. He certainly touched mine. God Bless you all and rest assured that my Dad's music will not stop here. It's only a new beginning for what he worked so hard to bring us all. I have one last thought on my mind. Can you only imagine what kind of jamming is going on in God's band right now with George McCorkle, Toy Caldwell and Tommy Caldwell in the house? I can't either but I have a good idea.
Ride in peace Daddy, I love you with all my heart. I'll miss you every minute of every day until we meet again.
We love you brother, Enjoy the Ride

Thanks for sharing that with us Bruce. I've been thinking about you all day. Sounds like it was exactly what he would have wanted. The ride is definitely worth the trip! That's what this living stuff is all about, I guess. I think you're very fortunate that George played such an important part of your trip......even if it feels like it was a little too short. You're a lucky man! If you all haven't seen Bruce's article he wrote for Southern Fried, please read it. You did a great job, Bruce, it's beautiful! There is also a link to a video that the MTB did years ago that I've never seen. Check it out, it's pretty cool. Boy, those guys were naturals for playing cowboys! youtube.com/watch?v=H3kPMJR428c

Well I did remember a story from last year while I was at the Musifest this weekend . I was talking to Mark about George and out came a story that I tried to remember.... At last years Jam a Que I was standing under the tent watching George show Scott and Stan some certain parts on a song that they just could not figure out.... So George says "Ok boy play the song how you think its played...." George says " OK I see that and you're close but......now close your eyes and listen to how I play it and then I'll play it the way you did it..(George plays some licks)......now did ya hear that?" I heard more than 10 people said yeah, yeah...lol "Now open ya eyes and watch my fingers... " Now that was cool..... He is truly missed.....
