The stage was set, it was Saturday Nite September 28th at Goodfellas Cafe in Pottsville Pa. The sign outside Goodfellas read. i39.photobucket.com/albums/e189/lkamont/JVZ%20POTTSVILLE%2007/PICT0001.jpg
On this nite I knew that Jimmie and his band would have big trouble getting this crowd to liven up. There was two opening bands and I actually thought the crowd might have needed a little Geritol to get moving. They definitely had their work cut out for them. Now if you know anything about Jimmie and his band they can be likened to a bottle of fine wine, with age they get better and better. Opening the set with a Skynyrd tune tittled That's How I Like It off of Vicious Cycle, the crowd started to wake up and realize this is the REAL DEAL. The band belted out a couple more Skynyrd favorites like Traveling Man and one of Hootys all time favorites Cry for the Bad Man. Than the band unleashed three new songs off the their soon to be released CD. 100 Proof, Ray Ray's Juke Joint and Reason, the crowd never knew what hit them, they never seen that punch coming but it floored the entire crowd when the band played them cuts off their new CD. Jumpin back into the Skynyrd music that he does so well like his Cousin before him. Cowboy Cal laid out some Lead guitar tracks on Simple Man that I couldn't believe that only one person was playing it if I didn't see it with my own two eyes. Followed up byThat Smell and Whats Your Name the band had the crowd right where they wanted them. i97.photobucket.com/albums/l224/Hootys/JVZ%20Goodfellas%2007/IMG_0220.jpg

This lady is no drunken teenager without a lick of sense, she just happened to get caught up in the moment the music and the band and this is what Jimmies music can do to ya. She wasn't the only one though, take a gander over yonder

Yep that little feller between Jimmie and Cowboy Cal is Mike the owner of Goodfellas and there is also a guy in a Wheelchair there who got caught up in the moment and Bumrushed the stage. Jimmie and his band rounded out his two hour long set with a couple covers from other groups, a 38 Special Medley, Down South Jukin, Call Me the Breeze, Sweet Home Alabama and of course they capped off the nite with a BLAZING Freebird. I am not gonna tell ya which Skynyrd song he thru in for Good Luck but it is one that Skynyrd never plays in concert you will just have to go see them. Two lead guitars who equally share their Lead and Rythym with neither over showcasing the other, lets here it for Cowboy Cal and Dave on Guitar. On Bass guitar we have Cowboy Cal's brother Guy. The person in charge of keeping a steady beat for the band by pounding two sticks of wood against some metal circles and animal skins is Jeremy. Singing backup vocals reminisent of Jo-Jo because of the way she held her hands on her dress like a Southern Girl does is Lola. Than there is Zee, Jimmies wife also providing powerful backup vocals. Both of them gals could give Janis Joplin a run for her money with the pipes that these two ladies got. Jimmie rounds out the band as any Van Zant would do. Taking the reigns directing the band in which direction they should go as a frontman should do and captivating the audience while at the same time putting ALL of his heart and soul into the lyrics that he sings. Next stop for Jimmie and his bandmates is in Carthage Tennessee for the 2007 Southern Music Heritage Festival which is part of the Deford Bailey Weekend get together starting October 6th
