I dont know if this has been posted before, But have ya'll seen the movie "Elizabethtown" ??? It has some Skynyrd refrences, poster, music,..The Kentucky Band "My Morning Jacket" plays Freebird in the movie. One of the actors make's this quote in the movie ....."I teach my kids about the things that really matter. I will teach them about Abraham Lincoln and Ronnie VanZant, because they are equally important in my house". You gotta love that man !!! Paula Deen is in the movie too ! Yep, Cookin up a storm. It's an OK movie, Yet all the Skynyrd stuff really make's it worth watching. So Check it out if'n ya hav'nt all ready.

I haven't seen it but I keep meaning to rent it. There are a couple of pictures of them at the premiere of the movie that I put in the gallery. Must be kind of a cool movie for them to show up for that. Wonder what kind of royalties they got for the use of those things in the movie.

Yep I have that movie ...It's a Cameron Crow movie so you know he's gonna have Skynyrd in it ;D
Check out 'Almost Famous' Cameron Crow was actually the Creem and Rolling Stone writer portrayed in the movie, and the movie is about him on the road with different bands (all rolled into one for the movie) and mostly about his time on the road with Skynyrd

I liked Dazed and Confused, It reminds me of old times and is set at the same time in the 70's when I was in high school. Some others with Skynyrd Tunes.....
Longest Yard (original one)-Saturday Night Special Mask-Sweet Home Alabama Forrest Gump-Sweet Home Alabama & Freebird Dazed and Confused-Tuesdays Gone Elizabethtown-Freebird(not skynyrd version) Sweet Home Alabama-Sweet Home Alabama(not skynyrd version)
There are others too, but this is all I recall at the moment.
Help me to remember the others

well maybe soon I can actually make a real movie about Skynyrd....which I have been wanting to do for the last 10 years...with all the inteviews Rick and I have it sure makes a good script....but there are so many variations on the stories that I'm sure there would be some negative feedback on it because someone would say that a certain story wasnt true because they would say "I was there when that happened ,I know exactly how it happened that other guy doesnt know what he's talking about"..... so this is kinda keeping me from punching on through with it....
I would love to team up with Sharon Lawrence with some of her stories.....

I don't know how well an actual movie about Skynyrd would go over. Think about casting, for one thing. Who in the world could play any of those guys? And everybody's got a different recollection about the history of the band, the plane crash and every other little detail, ya know? Hell, even the band members change their stories from time to time. It could be a disaster, like some of those Elvis movies....none of those guys made a good Elvis!! Kurt Russell....Don Johnson! Good Lord!
Sharon Lawrence has been approached a few times already to be an advisor or something on a Skynyrd movie. She's not real interested in doing that and I don't blame her, really. She's still working on a book that is supposed to come out next year I think, about her life and there will be plenty of stuff in there about her years with Skynyrd.
BUT you can do something really amazing with your documentary after it's all put together, it'd be great! And maybe you could interview Sharon. Although, while I was doing my interview with her it was kind of like pulling teeth to get a good story about them out of her because she's saving the good stuff for her book, including old pictures that I asked for. There were areas that she didn't want to go into, so I left it out. Maybe after her book comes out she'll do something like that for you.....after she's published her "good stories." I think most of her recollections are pretty good and may even be better than some of the other folks that were there.
Just something to think about, but it's not a bad idea. And I didn't mean to shoot your movie idea down but it would really be tough to do it right.

It would be tough to make a good Skynyrd movie, but I'd love to see it done... I have NO idea who'd be the best at playin the boys, but surely they're out there.
As long as it was done right.. ie; professionally and factually, I think it would be fantastic..... I'd buy it! ;D
A decent budget movie too.. not some B crap.
I think Cameron Crowe should do it (with you Tony)... for 1) he spent ALOT of time with them on the road. for 2) he's a producer and can get it done right... and for 3) Crowe's wife is Nancy Wilson of Heart and being a musician herself, she'd be a great help all around

You made some good points there, Missy. Yep, Cameron Crowe would definitely be the man that could help since he knew them. Boy, that would be a helluva project though.
