It's finally time. Jimmy in concert tonight here in my hometown. Wish I had went to Wal-mart when I started to this morning. My cousin called and said Jimmy was walkin around in Wal-mart, just shoppin. I'm so excited, my family has the first 11 seats in the front row. we are all wearin old concert shirts from Skynyrd, I have one that is completely ragged, it was my very first skynyrd shirt, if I can get Jimmy to sign it, I'm gonna retire it to a picture frame and wall it. it looks like someone shot it with buckshot, and my wife has been naggin for a couple years to retire it anyway. maybe I'll be able to get some pics too. laters all, we'll be thinkin about ya'll tonight.

I hoped you loved his show. Did he play his new stuff? You are probably the first dsj member to hear the new Jimmie.

WICKED AWESOME SHOW!!!!!
We had an extremely special night. This morning my little cousin Dillon, 10 years old, wrote Jimmie a letter. He really wanted to give it to Jimmie, we couldn't figure out how though, until we arrived. A friend of mine was working as a security at the backstage entrance, so we went and asked someone, Jimmie wouldn't come get the letter, but said to bring it to him. So this guy comes and gets the letter, and we stand and watch Jimmie's wife read it, then hand it to Jimmie. Then it looked like that was it, but after about 5 minutes standing there watching them, the guy comes back over and takes us backstage and says that Jimmie wants us to sit back there and that around the middle of the set he was gonna have Dillon come up on stage. Dillon was ecstatic , he got to set on stage for one song, then Jimmie called him back up there when they did Gimmie Three Steps and they sang duet. At one point Jimmie handed him the mic and walked off to get a drink, and Dillon kept singing. It was awesome. He was definitely in heaven tonight. None of us actually had backstage passes, but Jimmie took care of that for Dillon, my wife, and I. We got to stay back stage the entire time, some of the crowd even asked Dillon to sign their stuff right along side the rest of the band. I got to meet Jimmie myself, and did get my shirt signed by him and his wife.
anyway, enough talk for now, it's time to go to bed. btw, yes they did some of their new stuff tonight, and let me tell you, there ain't no denying that Jimmie is a Van Zant. Great stuff all night, and truly a great bunch of folks. Whoever talks to Jimmie next time, tell him thank you again for me.

it definitly was an excellent night for all of us. Jimmie and the band were so cool, and nice. This is the stuff that dreams are made of. One thing I forgot to mention was Dillon's t-shirt getting signed, it has a story. The shirt was from the ten year anniversary, my uncle bought it right off a guys back at work one day cause it had Johnny's sig on it. My uncle wore it till it's almost see thru , and the sig had completely faded, no trace of it left. So with Jimmie's sig on it now, the shirt is getting framed and mounted.
I'm still in awe, they were so awesome. Hopefully I'll be able to get back in here a little more often now, still got a few summer jobs to finish up as soon as it cools down a little, it's been around 100 here for a while, and when it aint that bad, the index is. love ya'll laters

That's one of the best concert stories I've ever heard here. Right up there with a Hooty concert!! You never know what's gonna happen when you see the Van Zants play somewhere. I've met Jimmie twice, so I'm not totally surprised about what he did for you guys. Pretty awesome!!

the world definitly needs a lot more Van Zants, or at least as Charlie Daniels says it, " What this world needs, is a few more REDNECKS..."
Don't know if anyone got any video of it or not, and the newspaper still hasn't run the story yet either. And I still don't have the good pics from my uncle's camera yet. the ones from my phone turned out really small, and I don't know why, they used to be fairsized pics. anyway. laters
