Well, 2008 Jam-A-Que is a wrap.. What a really cool day... It is a very difficult event to put on, but worth every bit of it. Some info about this year:
We had over 200 folks this year thru the day
The total Webcam hits was around 5000 - from all around the world
We had folks from coast to coast attend (including some folks here from Belgium)
There was over 11 hours of Live music finishing the night off with Fireworks.
There were no fights, arguments, or problems - woooo hooooo
here is the first pictures in (from Tony):
From The Shaver Family
some from Terry Eckard Band:
More coming in
So let me say this.... THANK YOU ALL!!!! None of this would have been possible without all of you!!!!
We are already working on 2009. First order of business is the date so I can start booking Bands, etc... We are talking about May 23rd, May 30, or June 6th.... What do you all think,,,, I need to set it in the next couple of days so folks can black the date out on their calanders and not have other shows booked.
On another note... As wonderful as the event was we did have our share of issues to deal with..
WE did have some sound system issues, that finally got dialed in, but we have decided on some better ways of doing it for 2009
We had some artists that ran late, triggering a chain reaction with the schedule - putting us over on time, and causing the "open jam" portion to be less structured than we wanted. We have decided on how to resolve this, and to be sure that EVERYONE gets to jam... Scott will also be music director again in 2009,
Last year we had no issues with power, however,,, this year we added more sound, more amps, computers, webcams, and Lights. When everything started running at the same time,,, we were popping breakers. We are running higher current power to the stage. Again, we resolved it, and learned for next year.
Everyone that attended, please send me, Teri, or Susan your review of the event for a very special issue of Southern Fried.... Pictures, video, and reviews/comments needed soon... Thanks ya'all
On a more personal note:
The Jam marked the 4th birthday of the site... 4 years ago I never fathomed any of this. When I stood on that stage looking out over all the people, and got reports of how many were watching via the webcams I was so very humbled... I am just amazed that we have built something so very special together. Special enough that major southern rock artists want to be a part of it, Special enough that people travel from all over to hang out in my back yard. There is magic. And that magic is all of you!!! Love you folks!!!!!
