For those of you who are completely confused as to what is happening with the new websites....here's the deal. The DSJ community site that most of you joined and added profiles, photos, etc. to was set up to replace this message board and the more personal stuff that we do here. This one:
downsouthjukin.flux.com/
Bruce set up another new one that focuses more on the history of the bands, photos, links to other sites we're connected to, etc etc. If you do a search for downsouthjukin.com...this is what you will find:
downsouthjukin.com/dsj2008/
He did the layout and all of the initial work. So what I've been doing this week is adding things to it. Something happened to the software at the DSJ photo gallery, so we've had to transfer everything that was in the old one to this one. Actually, everything is still there but we can no longer sign in and upload anything new or use any of the admin functions. So we can still look at it but we can't add any new stuff. There are still some things I need to move over.

Ok, so here's the thing in a nut shell.....we need to split THIS place up between these 2 new places. The DSJ community and the DSJ Skynyrd/Southern Rock WEB community. For instance, if you go on the WEB community and click on BANDS up on the top there, you'll see what Bruce added under Skynyrd and MTB. I added the 38 and Van Zant categories, but haven't added any content to them yet -- as of this minute I haven't but will work on it this weekend before Bruce gets back to town!
What do we keep from this place and what don't we need? Take a look around, I'm sure there are some things here that we can do without. I can add any new category we need at the DSJ community (flux) site....the other day I added Concert Reviews and Photos....can't figure out how to rearrange the damn things in the order it should go....but I'm sure there's a way. Jody's poetry should go over there too, for example...I think. But bios and history and band info should go to the WEB community.
Bruce told me when we were working on these things that we have a clean slate. So, that would mean to me that we can do whatever we want here. So, anything you guys have to offer as far as ideas or comments, we'd appreciate the help. Anything new is always going to be hard to get used to in the beginning.....but I think we can make it better than what we have now.
Bruce does have a long term goal and a vision in mind that will tie in the two new sites we just set up to the southernalliance.org site and some other ones. So in case you're thinking that he's just doing all this extra work because he likes making websites.....that's not what is happening. As a matter of fact, he gets real tired of working on these things and it has to be some of the most time consuming boring work on the planet! I know because I've been working with him on all of this stuff. He started with just a simple Skynyrd website/message board forum 4 years ago and it's just going to keep growing. He's a man with a plan! So we just need to try to keep up with him....but sometimes it ain't easy!
BTW....that other new forum we tried to build a few months back is gone and we're not using it, so you can delete that from your bookmarks. That was a nightmare!
