Dierks Bentley to play FREE concert in Nashville on August 23!
The August 23rd free Nashville music event, featuring live performances from artists Dierks Bentley, Eric Church, Luke Bryan and Lady Antebellum, will shut down a portion of Demonbreun for nearly 24 hours; look for "text-to-screen" technology on outdoor stage's giant screen and event t-shirts benefiting Vanderbilt Children's Hospital.
Nashville, TN – August 16, 2007 – "The Capitol Pub Crawl," a free music event open to the public and scheduled to take place on Demonbreun Street near Music Row, will be held Thursday evening, August 23, beginning at 5:00 pm. A stage erected for multiplatinum artist Dierks Bentley, who will literally take to the streets for his show, will necessitate the closing of a portion of Demonbreun, from 14th Ave. to Buddy Killen Circle (the Music Row Roundabout), from 5:00 am on event day (Thursday, August 23) until 6:00 am the next day (Friday, August 24.) Live performances from Capitol Records Nashville artists Lady Antebellum, Luke Bryan and Eric Church will take place in popular Demonbreun hotspots The Tin Roof and Dan McGuinness will be featured during the Capitol Pub Crawl, as well.
The Demonbreun stage will feature a giant video screen; live footage of all four acts will be provided by Moo TV, a national video production company that provides in-concert footage for many major rock and country touring acts, as well as for the annual CMA Country Music Festival. Additionally, Pub Crawl concert-attendees will be able to send text messages from their cell phone that will be flashed on the screen as they watch the Capitol artists in concert; this "text-to-screen" technology will create a rolling, live chat room on-screen, allowing music fans to share their thoughts with the crowds on Demonbreun.
T-shirts featuring the colorful Capitol Pub Crawl logo – with caricature depictions of all artists participating in the event – will be for sale on-site, with proceeds to benefit Vanderbilt Children's Hospital.
The performances will kick off at 5:00 pm at The Tin Roof, where Capitol Records Nashville's newest artists, Lady Antebellum, will take the stage. Word is spreading quickly about this trio's soaring harmonies, insightful songwriting and youthful passion; while the members of "Lady A" - Hillary Scott, Dave Haywood and Charles Kelley - are currently recording their debut album, they can also be seen out on the road, opening for acts like Carrie Underwood, Rodney Atkins, Kellie Pickler and Josh Turner.
Next up, at Dan McGuinness, is Luke Bryan. Bryan's first album, I'LL STAY ME, hit stores this week and is already receiving rave reviews. The only country artist named to BILLBOARD's "Faces To Watch in 2007," Bryan's current Top 15 single, "All My Friends Say," isn't his first trip up the country charts, having written Billy Currington's 1 single "Good Directions." A straight-up down-home country boy from Leesburg, Georgia, Bryan has opened shows for Brooks & Dunn, Sugarland and Dierks Bentley.
Then, back to The Tin Roof for critically-acclaimed Eric Church. Church's debut album SINNERS LIKE ME, which the New York Times referred to as "a strong candidate for country album of the year," has spawned a 1 video with his first single, "How 'Bout You," as well as three Top 20 singles. The fourth single from the album, the title track "Sinners Like Me," has just gone to radio; tours with Bob Seger, Dierks Bentley, Brad Paisley and Rascal Flatts have helped Church build a large, loyal following among country fans.
Lastly, taking the outdoor stage on Demonbreun, is Dierks Bentley. Bentley's third release, "LONG TRIP ALONE," followed on the heels of his first two platinum selling albums, the self-titled debut and his sophomore release "Modern Day Drifter." Bentley has taken home every new artist award the industry offers – CMA's "Horizon Award" (2005), ACM's "Top New Artist" award (2005) and CMT's "Breakthrough Video of the Year" award (2004). And now after a mere 12 months, Bentley has surpassed his peers and moved into a new category— receiving two Grammy nominations (2007) and being nominated for CMA's "Male Vocalist of the Year (2006) as well as the ACM's "Top Male Vocalist" award (2006).
"While the music industry continues to change on an almost daily basis, what doesn't change at Capitol Records Nashville is the quality of our music and our artists," said president/CEO of the label, Mike Dungan. "What better way to showcase the terrific music we're creating - from brand new acts to established superstars - than a free street party? On August 23, we're putting the "music" in Music City, baby!"
